Hey wormlets! It's Phoebe and welcome or welcome back to the blog. Today, I wanted to talk about my take on a popular children's book: Chicken Sunday and why I think it's more than just a "good book". Chicken Sunday is a picture book that has endured and captured the hearts of many--parents and children alike--but not just because of it's lovable characters or well-written story. This book paints a very clear picture about trust. You see, brothers Stewart and Winston, along with their best friend/honorary sister (we are not told her name) are accused of throwing eggs at Mr. Kodinski, who owns the local hat store. They did not do it, but Mr. Kodinski doesn't believe them. He calls Stewart and Winston's "gramma", Miss Eula May. Later that day, back at the house, the children tell Miss Eula that they didn't throw the eggs. Miss Eula May is able to believe them because never once had they lied to her before. This message is so important for young kiddos to hear, especially those who tend to lie a lot. This book will make them ask themselves, if I had been accused of throwing eggs but I didn't do it, who would've been able to believe me? Aside from the important message, the book has beautifully detailed illustrations to go along with it, and a very well written story that will keep readers young and old engaged. See you next time and happy reading! -Phoebe--Head Worm:) QUESTION OF THE DAY (leave your comment down below): how did you hear about our blog?
